Lily meets her cat brothers

My Baby boys HATE dogs… they are forever hissing and clawing at the landlords doggies, so we were really worried about introducing Lily to Borris and Meecko.

They were surprisingly amused with the ball of fluff we had just placed in front of them (Lily looked sort of like a fluffy version of that really fat worm on a bug’s life) and then when she let out a little excited bark they realized that she was in fact a dog not a weird new toy.

They then ran away which made our baby Lily super excited and she proceeded to chase the two funny looking animals who were silly to be scared of such a tiny puppy.
The cats were not impressed, Borris (who usually sleeps on the bed with us) spent his nights on the couch and Meecko (who sleeps on a matrass next to the bed) the poor thing slept outside for a whole week! (Luckily it was summer so it was nice and warm)

Anyway eventually Meecko came back inside and slowly started sleeping closer and closer to the kitchen and Borris started sleeping on the bed again but they were still very weary of Lily, and occasionally swiped at her with their paws. We were worried that they would never accept her but one day Lily was having her Bi-Weekly Bath, Blow-dry and brush and I brushed her hair into a Mohawk style and left her to run around. She went into the spare room and suddenly turned around and ran away with Meecko chasing after her!

Oh no babe he’s gona scratch her! And we stared in Horror as Meecko grasped Lily’s head between his two paws and proceeded to violently…. Oh no wait… he’s licking her… Correction, he was fixing Lily’s Mohawk styled hair... what the hell? He was vigorously licking poor Lily’s hair until it was all flat (as it should be)
Meecko obviously did not like how I did her hair and to this day if you mess up Lily’s hair Meecko will appear from nowhere, Hunt her down and clasp her head tightly with his paws until her hair is fixed.

The cats have since grown very fond of Lily and we often find then snuggling on the bed together and playing in the garden. Meecko has also adopted a new bed… Lily’s hello kitty bed which Lily was unbelievably upset about barking and throwing tantrums but Meecko stuck to his new spot and now sleeps there every night.

Lily meets Jake

A few weeks after we got Lily Dewet’s brother and his wife (Charles and Joey) returned from their honeymoon in TAIWAN and soon after got a little puppy named Jake (a pug crossed jack Russell, with a little bit of corgi mixed in there somewhere) Jake was an angel but unfortunately developed a bad case of Sarcoptic mange (or canine scabies, is very contagious and can be transferred through contact to other dogs or animals. The mites can be transferred to humans but this form of mite does not live long on human skin. This form of mange occurs when the sarcoptes scabiei canis mite burrows into the skin of the animal. The skin quickly becomes infected and causes severe itching and wounds that crust over. It is usually first noticed on the dog's elbows and ears. Dogs with canine scabies are often in poor condition to begin with, and their health can quickly deteriorate after they have become infected)

So Lily could not yet be introduced to her new Cousin. Fortunately with the help of a great vet and lots of care and attention from Joey and Charles, Jake quickly transformed into a healthy little puppy with lots of energy and love to give. Finally the time came for them to meet, Joey and Charles came over to our place and in walked Jake very curiously sniffing around (think Stitch from Lilo & Stitch) and Lily sitting on the couch (like a princess) their eyes meet, Jake cocks his head to one side, Lily gives an adorable bark of excitement and Jake, Jake runs and hides under Joey’s dress…

Turns out Jake is a scaredy cat when meeting new animal friends and Lily just loves making friends so she was happily pouncing around trying to say hi and poor Jake was probably thinking whhhaaaattt the hell mom!!!! Eventually Jake decided it was safe enough to at least smell this strange fluffy dog who keeps jumping around, barking at him and as soon as he sniffed her they became best friends, second later they were chasing each other and jumping on everyone and barking with excitement so much that we had to split them up for 10 seconds so they had a chance to drink some water. It was a hilarious sight to see, these two puppies running around the house like it was a race track, jumping on the couch jumping over us, and they were everywhere at once. Finally they both fell asleep on the couch after playfully tugging at each other’s ears as they were settling down. Joey and Charles took Jake home and we finally went to bed.

How it all started

Since my boyfriend and I moved into our own place I have been constantly nagging him about pets (I LOVE animals) first it was hamsters (which I got and then they died a few years later, then Cats (my two gorgeous boys Meecko and Borris whom I adopted from a rescue shelter) and my newest: A Pekingese Puppy!!! I nagged and nagged and then a few days before Christmas (2013) my friend told me about Pekingese puppies that were for sale and there was one left! I quickly phoned my boyfriend and told him about this adorable puppy (I had no idea how it looked) and that we had to get it (bearing in mind that our landlords had said no pets when we moved in and we had already managed to twist their arms for the cats) my boyfriend (Dewet) said we couldn’t expect them to allow another pet (which unfortunately was very true)

A few days past and I was getting ready to go home after work one day, feeling very tired and miserable so I did what any normal girl would do, phoned my best friend to come over so we could open a bottle of wine. I got home and I walked in the door and Dewet was getting ready to leave which was very strange as he never goes anywhere when I get back from work, He gave me a quick kiss and said “make supper I’ll see you later”. Got in his car and drove away. Bianca (my best friend) got to my house and asked where Dewet was and I said I have no Idea, I think he’s gone mad he said he’ll be back later. We proceeded to drink a few glasses of wine and watched a movie when we saw lights pulling into the driveway and then a few seconds later entered Dewet holding a strange towel all bundled up. What the hell is that babe? I asked seeing the big smile on his face, “I know it’s early but Merry Christmas babe” he said handing me the bundle. I slowly unfolded the towel to reveal…

A fluffy dark brown Pekingese puppy!!!!
OMG! OMG! Babe! Really! Its soooo cute! What is it!?Is it a Girl or a boy?
Dewet laughed at me: Relax babe it’s a Girl and yes she’s all yours.
I stood there crying like an idiot while Bianca and Dewet laughed at me.
What are you going to name her? Bianca asked. Ummm maybe Jade? No maybe Cara? Wait I have the perfect name… Lily…. Yes Lily. She was perfect in every way, her squashed nose, and her huge eyes. Like proud new parents we went to show her off to our families, they like us immediately fell in love with Lily. After a long night of bragging and showing off our new ‘baby’ we finally went home only to be presented with a new problem...

Babe she can sleep on the floor! Dewet persisted, But she’s only a baby, what if she gets scared or confused? It’s a new house it’s strange to her, I Insisted. Fine we can sleep on a matrass on the floor, Dewet finally came to see my point and we snuggled up on the matrass with Lily cuddling between us, we finally started dozing off when suddenly an alarmingly loud snore erupted from somewhere underneath the blanket. Yes the tiny little puppy was happily asleep and snoring (apparently everyone forgot to tell us that Pekingese dogs snore because of their squashed noses) And as much as I hate the sound of snoring I loved this little bundle of fluff more (even to tolerate that horrible sound that causes Dewet to mysteriously get bruised ribs every now and then)
